Mrs. Rajeswari Vellasamy, affectionately known to her students as Mrs. Sree, is a Malaysian-born artist, art educator, creative director and entrepreneur who has made Japan her home for over 25 years. With more than three decades of experience in art, crafts and creative education, she brings together artistic expression, cultural appreciation and a deep understanding of the value of human connection.
Her creative journey spans art education, traditional crafts, henna artistry, beadwork, saree draping, statue painting and restoration, as well as experience in television, scriptwriting and stage direction. Her multidisciplinary background reflects her belief that creativity is not confined to a single medium but is a lifelong process of learning, expression and discovery.
As the founder and creative force behind Sai Meraki Art Academy Japan, Mrs. Sree is committed to making art accessible, engaging and meaningful for children and adults. Her educational approach encourages learners to develop their artistic abilities through exploration, practical guidance and hands-on experience, while nurturing confidence, imagination and individual expression.
Ms. Rathy’s dedication to education and the arts earned national recognition in 2013, when she was featured in interviews on 360 Degrees and Vizhuthugal, two programmes aired on Malaysia’s national television channel, Astro Vaanavil.
During these interviews, she shared her journey as an educator and artist, highlighting the importance of creativity in learning, personal growth and self-development. This recognition marked a meaningful milestone in her journey of inspiring others through art and education.
Beyond the arts, Mrs. Sree is developing OMOTENASHI: THE ART OF BUSINESS EXCELLENCE, a professional initiative inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Omotenashi; thoughtful hospitality and wholehearted service. Through this work, she aims to bring greater awareness to customer service, professional conduct and the quality of human interactions in business.
Her entrepreneurial vision is shaped by a combination of artistic experience, cultural understanding and practical business thinking. Through her work under Sai Kingdom, she continues to explore opportunities that connect creativity, education and service excellence.
Across her various pursuits, one principle remains central to her work: to create with meaning, teach with purpose and build experiences that leave a lasting impression.
For Mrs. Sree, creativity is more than an occupation. It is a way of thinking, a means of connecting people and a foundation for building something meaningful across cultures and generations.
